A lot of things make me think of Spring – warm weather, bright colors, flowers, birds, rainbows, rain, Easter, and BUTTERFLIES!!!! So, today I’m sharing with you a fun and colorful Spring-y card featuring the new Butterfly Brilliance Collection.
How I made it:
Cut and Score with your Paper Trimmer:
- Just Jade – 8.5″ x 5.5″, scored at 4.25″ on the long side
- Just Jade – 4″ x 5.25″
- Natural Touch Specialty Paper – 5.25″ x 2.25″
- Magenta Madness – 5.25″ x 2.5″
- Basic White – 1″ x 2 5/8″
- Basic White – 5.25″ x 4″ (for inside your card)
Punch with the Rectangular Postage Stamp Punch:
- 3 pieces from the Butterfly Bijou DSP (the piece with a rainbow-array of small butterflies)
Stamp with Hippo Happiness:
- The sentiment “fluttering by to say hi!” in Magenta Madness on the 1″ x 2 5/8″ piece of Basic White
Emboss with Brick & Mortar:
- The 5.25″ x 4″ piece of Just Jade card stock
Add Gilded Leafing to your Card Base:
- Fold your Just Jade card base on the score line and burnish with your boot folder
- Place Tear & Tape along all 4 edges of your card front -being sure to go all the way to the edges (I went beyond the edges and used my Paper Snips to trip off the excess)
- Remove the backing from the Tear & tape, exposing all 4 edges of stickiness
- Take a pinch of Gilded Leafing from the jar and place it onto any exposed sticky spot
- Rub the gold flakes around so that they cover all of the tape
- I suggest using multiple small pinches as opposed to a huge glob go the flakes – they can be evasive when clean-up time rolls around!
- Also- do not attempt this portion of the project while a fan is running in your craft area – the flakes are very lightweight and they will float through the air if it is swiftly moving (ask me how I know….)
Assemble Your Card:
- Adhere the embossed Just Jade card stock to the Gold-Gilded card base – it will look like there is Gold paper under this piece!
- Adhere the 5.25″ x 2.25″ piece of Natural Touch Specialty Paper to the 5.25″ x 2.5″ piece of Magenta Madness
- Adhere your 3 pieces of Butterfly Bijou DSP that you punched with the Rectangular Postage Stamp Punch to the Natural Touch Specialty Paper
- I adhered the two end pieces first and then centered the middle piece between them
- Adhere the combined strip to the embossed piece of Just Jade
- Cut your Basic White sentiment piece on an angle after the sentiment to add a bit of pizzazz to your sentiment, then adhere to the embossed piece of Just Jade
- Add a Magenta Madness enamel dot from the 2022022 In Color Enamel Dots
- Lastly, adhere the Basic White panel inside your card so you can write (or stamp) the sentiment of your choice.
I hope you have enjoyed this card – Happy Spring!
