A Grateful Heart for the Inking Royalty Blog Hop

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s October Blog Hop! During this year’s blog hops, we are enjoying a year of celebrations. This month’s projects celebrate Thanksgiving, so prepare yourself for Autumn landscapes, warm colors and sweet reminders of all the reasons we have to be grateful this time of year. There are so many things for us to be thankful in life, during the Thanksgiving holiday season and throughout the year! I don’t really send out “Thanksgiving Cards”, but I do love to tell people how much they mean to me and how thankful I am to have them in my life, so today’s card focuses on that, with beautiful autumn colors from the amazing Gilded Autumn DSP. My card was inspired by a card on page 44 of the August-December 2020 Mini Catalog. I made some changes to the card, but the basic idea came from the catalog – in the stamping world, we call this CASE-ing. Copy And Selectively Edit.

How I made it:

Cut & Score with your Paper Trimmer:

• Thick Very Vanilla – 8.5″ x 5.5″, scored at 4.25″ on the long side
• A piece of Gilded Autumn DSP – 4″ x 5.25″
• Cajun Craze – 3.75″ x 5″
• 3 pieces of Gilded Autumn DSP – 3.5″ x 1.5″
• Early Espresso – 3″ x 1 5/8″

Die Cut with Rectangle Stitched Dies:

• A piece of Very Vanilla – using the 2nd smallest die in the larger grouping

Fussy Cut from Gilded Autumn DSP:

• 3-4 groups of gold-gilded Mint Macaron leaves using your Paper Snips

Punch using the Autumn Punch Pack:

• 2 Acorns from the gold and bronze-gilded DSP (I did one of each metallic color)

Stamp using the Beautiful Autumn Stamp Set:

• In Mint Macaron on the Very Vanilla Stitched Rectangle, stamp the sentiment “My heart is grateful for you”

Assemble the Card:

• Fold your scored Thick Very Vanilla card base at the 4.25” score line and burnish with your bone folder
• Adhere the large panel of DSP to the card front, centered
• Adhere the Cajun Craze panel onto the DSP panel, also centered
• Adhere the 3 small panels of DSP to the Cajun Craze panel
  • I find it easiest to adhere the two outer panels first and then center the middle one between them
• Take a Gold Hoop Embellishment and lay it on the card. Adhere it using a piece of Tear and Tape, being careful to place the tape toward the bottom right of the circle so that your sentiment will hide it. No need to remove the white backing of the Tear and Tape because we aren’t using it in it’s intended double-sided manner
• Using Multipurpose Liquid Glue, adhere 2-3 of the fussy-cut Mint Macaron leaves inside the Gold Hoop embellishment, some sticking up and at least 1 pointing downward
• Adhere your die-cut sentiment to the Early Espresso panel
• Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop the sentiment up on the card, being careful not to place Dimensionals where the panel will cross the Gold Hoop, as that will make for an uneven surface
• Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere the last Mint Macaron leaf bundle as well as the 2 metallic acorns that you punched from the DSP
• Tie a bow using the Bronze Metallic ribbon from the Basket Weave & Metallic Ribbon Combo pack, sliding an Acorn Trinket onto the ribbon before tying so that it hangs nicely from the center of your bow
• Adhere the bow to the sentiment panel using Mini Glue Dots (I think I used 3 so that the Acorn Trinket would hang how I wanted it to)
• Finally, randomly add 2 Champagne Basic Jewels to finish off the card with some bling to compliment the metallic elements of the DSP
