May Your Season Sparkle

Welcome to the Candy Hearts Blog Hop for November! Today we are sharing Holiday projects. After reading my post, I hope you will hop to the next person on the list below. Be sure to hop around to see ALL the great projects the Candy Hearts have created for you!

Snow is one of my least favorite whether phenomenas. And yet snowflakes for Holiday and Christmas cards make my heart so happy! I love that they’re all so unique! I love that they’re so often sparkly, and I love that “blue” is associated with cold – it’s my favorite color! So today I combined all of those things I love into a card that I hope you’ll love!

Here’s how I made it:

Cut & Score with your Paper Trimmer:

  • Night of Navy – 11″ x 4.25″, scored at 5.5″
  • Ombre Specialty Paper (blue) – 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″
  • Basic White – 5.5″ x 4.25″ (two of this size – one for the card front and one for inside)
  • Scraps of the following for die cutting snowflakes: Basic White, Balmy Blue, Snowy White Velvet Specialty Paper

Die Cut:

  • Using Encircled In Friendship, die cut the large filagree circle from one of the 535″ x 4.25″ pieces of Basic White
  • Using Stitched Snowflakes:
    • Cut the larges snowflake from Basic White – color over this using your Wink of Stella
    • Cut the medium snowflake from Balmy Blue
    • Cut the smallest snowflake from the Snowy White Velvet Specialty Paper

Stamp Using Snowflake Wishes:

  • In Night of Navy, stamp the sentiment “May Your Season Sparkle” at the bottom of the 5.5″ x 4.25″ Basic White that has the filigree circle die cut from it
  • Use your Wink of Stella to carefully add some sparkle to the accent lines under the word “sparkle:

Add Snowflakes with Embossing Paste:

  • Using the Shimmery White Embossing Paste, add a snowflake on other side of the sentiment with the Plenty of Patterns Decorative Masks
  • Place the mask where you want the first snowflake, carefully add a thin layer of Shimmery White Embossing Paste using a Palette Knife (be careful not to pull your past over to the snowflakes near the one you intend to put on the card)
  • Repeat on the other side using a different shape of snowflake
  • Wash your mask and palette knife in warm water immediately after use, it is much easier to clean up while still wet than after the paste has set

Stamp using Merry Snowflakes:

  • We are going to add some stamping to the inside panel of the card
  • On the other piece of 5.5″ x 4.25″ Basic White:
    • In Misty Moonlight stamp the medium sized snowflake approximately half onto your paper, near the bottom right
    • In Balmy Blue, stamp the “blustery wind” flourish to the left of your snowflake

Assemble the Card:

  • Fold the Night of Navy card base on the score line and burnish with your Bone Folder
  • Adhere the 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″ piece of Ombre Specialty Paper to your card base, leaving a small edge of Night of Navy showing on all 4 sides
  • Adhere your die cut piece of Basic White to the card front, centering on the Ombre Specialty Paper using Tear & Tape
  • Use a Mini Glue Dot in the center of the back of the largest (Basic White) snowflake and adhere it in side the circle from the die cut
  • Use another Mini Glue Dot in the center of the back of the medium (Balmy Blue) snowflake and adhere it over the center of the Basic White snowflake
  • Repeat the same process for the Snowy White Velvet snowflake
  • Adhere your stamped card insert to the inside of your card
