No Tricks, Just Treats

Welcome to the September 2022 Candy Hearts Blog Hop! It’s almost the time of year for all things spooky and fun. And Stampin’ Up! has all you need to make sure your treats are the cutest on the block. So today we’re sharing Halloween treat ideas. After reading my post, I hope you will hop to the next person on the list below. Be sure to hop around to see ALL the great projects the Candy Hearts have created for you!

I don’t have kids to make cute treat holders for – but I do have family, friends and co-workers! Everyone loves a special treat, and they love them even more when gifted in a handmade container! I chose to make a little bag that holds about 5 mini candy bars plus two perfectly displayed fun-sized Twix peeping out. The Hostess Gift DSP “Celebrate Everything” had the PERFECT paper for this fun project!

Here’s how I made it:

Cut & Score With Your Paper Trimmer:

  • DSP – 3.5″ x 9.5″
  • Basic Black card stock – 4″ x 2.25″
  • Score the Black card stock at .5″ on all 4 sides
  • On the long sides, use your Paper Snips to cut from the edge in to the score line at the .5″ score line, creating 4 small flaps

Examples in green to aid in visibility

Stamp using Alphabest:

  • On a scrap of Basic White, using Memento Tuxedo Black, stamp the background with horizontal stripes 3 times
  • Using Pumpkin Pie, stamp one letter on each background to spell out “Boo!”

Punch using Best Label:

  • Punch out all 4 letters/symbols

Assemble the Bag:

  • Burnish your Basic Black bag-bottom on all score lines
  • Using Multipurpose Liquid Glue, adhere the tabs to the sides of the base to create a box-bottom
  • Starting in the center of a long side, adhere your DSP to the .5″ sides of the bag-bottom
    • Pinch the DSP at the bottom when you turn the corners, so that only the bottom has crisp corners and the rest maintains a bag shape
  • Cut approximately 10-11″ of Metallic Mesh Ribbon – wrap this around the mid-section of your bag and use Mini Glue Dots on the back side to adhere the ends over one another (you may have some excess to trim off)
  • Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere your “Boo!” tiles to the front side of your bag
  • Use the piercing attachment on your Take Your Pick Tool to poke two holes into the top of the bag, centered the best you can and going through both layers of the bag
  • Fill the bag with candy or whatever treat you plan to gift
  • Cut approximately 6-7″ of Parakeet Party Metallic Woven Ribbon – thread this through the holes and tie in a bow to keep your bag shut
