Welcome to InKing Royalty’s February Blog Hop! This is a great time of year to build your stash of handmade birthday cards, so we are sharing birthday-themed projects with you today. We are excited to share our creations and hope you love them! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.
The minute I saw the Seas the Day bundle, I just KNEW I had to have it! Then, we got a sneak peak of a new suite that will soon be released, called Waves of the Ocean and when I saw the DSP in that suite, I again KNEW that it needed to be used with the Seas the Day bundle – and here we are, folks!!

This is the DSP from Waves of the Ocean that I so quickly fell in love with, and have used for today’s project:

And this is the Waves of the Ocean Suite, an early-release from the new 2022-2023 Annual Catalog. This suite will be available for order beginning March 1, 2022!

Here’s How I made today’s card:
Cut and Score with your Paper Trimmer”
- Pacific Point – 8.5″ x 5.5″, scored at 4.25″ on the long side
- Basic White (x2) – 5.5″ x 4.25″
- Waves of the Ocean DSP – 5.5″ x 4.25″
- Basic White – 5.25″ x 4″ (for the inside)
Stamp Using Seas the Day:
- On one of your 5.5″ x 4.25″ pieces of Basic White, stamp the following:
- In Magenta Madness, stamp 2 fish
- In Gorgeous Grape, stamp the octopus
- In Calypso Coral, stamp the star fish
- Ink the jelly fish with Craft White, use a sponge dauber to lightly add some Calypso Coral to the stamp as well (this is how I gave my jelly fish his “see through glowing” look – at least that’s what I was going for)
Die Cut using Sea Dies:
- From your other 5.5″ x 4.25″ piece of Basic White, die cut the underwater scene
- Die cut the sea animals that you stamped in the previous step
Stamp using Timeless Tulips
- In Memento Tuxedo Black, stamp “happy birthday” on a scrap of Calypso Coral
Die Cut using All Dressed Up Dies:
- Using the label die, die cut the sentiment you just stamped
Color the Die Cut Underwater Scene:
- Use Light & Dark Just Jade Stampin’ Blends to color the seaweed – I colored them in Light Just Jade, then added accents using Dark Just Jade
- Color the coral using Light Calypso Coral – then outline lightly using Dark Calypso Coral to add some dimension and definition
Assemble Your Card:
- Fold your Pacific Point card base on the score line and burnish with your bone folder
- Adhere the 5.5″ x 4.25″ piece of Waves of Inspiration DSP to the card front
- Adhere the die cut & colored underwater scene frame over the DSP – I only put glue on the edges, so that I could tuck my sea creatures behind the seaweed
- Glue your sea creatures into the scene – I stared with the octupus and jelly fish because they are the largest and I knew I wanted to tuck them behind the seaweed somewhat
- Use your Stampin’ Chalk Marker to add small white spots to the tops of the bubbles, this gives them a more defined and realistic look
- Adhere the starfish to the outside of the frame, I chose the lower right corner
- Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere your sentiment to the top of the card front
- Adhere the 5.25″ x 4″ piece of Basic White to the inside of your card
- Lastly, I added three pieces of the new Faux Sea Glass Shapes to the bottom left of the card
