Last week in the Candy Hearts (that’s the name of the Stampin’ Up! team led by my Upline, Candy Ford), we were given a tic-tac-toe challenge. Basically, Candy gave us a grid with 9 elements in it and we were to choose 3 elements in a row (across, down or diagonal) and create a project using those elements. How fun is this idea?
Here’s the Tic-Tac-Toe Board that Candy gave us:
I chose the diagonal line starting from the top left – Circle, Die Cut, Pink. Ok, so now what do I make? So many options! Well, when I don’t have a specific idea in mind when starting a project, I like to flip through the catalog and see if anything strikes me. I couldn’t believe how quickly I found inspiration! I was thumbing through back to front and the image on the top left of page 159 caught my eye – the perfect inspiration!!
CASE can mean one of two things (a) Copy And Share Everything or (b) Copy And Selectively Edit. I opted for option (b) I kept that Pink, Circular, Die Cut – but changed up the background. Here’s what I made:
Thank you, Stampin’ Up! for this inspiration! Here’s how I made it:
Cut & Score with your Paper Trimmer:
- Blushing Bride – 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, scored on the long side at 4 1/4
- Neutrals 6×6 DSP (Smoky Slate color) – 4 x 5 1/2
- Whimsy & Wonder DSP (silver diagonal pattern) – 3 x 5 1/2
- Basic White – 3 1/4 x 3 1/4
- Blushing Bride – 4 x 4
- Polished Pink – 4 x 4
- Basic White – 4 x 5 1/4 (for inside)
Die Cut using Encircled in Beauty:
- From Polished Pink – the large circle that cuts scalloped edges
- From Blushing Bride – the die cut that cuts a solid shape
- From Basic White – the intricate die that leaves a solid center
Stamp using Encircled in Friendship:
- On the intricate Basic White circle, stamp the lily on the right and the sentiment “because of you” to the right in Memento Tuxedo Black
- Color the lily using Light & Dark Stampin Blends in Mint Macaron and Polished Pink
Assemble the Card:
- Fold the Blushing Bride card base on the score line and burnish with your Bone Folder
- Adhere the panel of Smoky Slate DSP to the card front, leaving some pink showing on both the left and right
- Adhere the panel of Whimsy & Wonder in the center if the Smokey Slate
- Next, glue the Blushing Bride circle to the Polished Pink circle, placing them so that the Polished Pink scallops peek out from behind the Blushing Bride
- Wrap a piece of white Baker’s Twine from the Baker’s Twine Essential Pack around the middle of the two pink circles and tie a bow toward one side – it doesn’t matter if it’s the left or the right, you can turn it around to be on the side you want
- Use Dimensionals to add these pink layers to the front of your card
- Use Dimensionals to adhere the Basic White layer on top of the pink layers
- Finally, add some Polished Pink Gems from the 2021-2023 In Color Jewels
- On the inside, glue your Basic White panel, you can stamp a sentiment here or hand write a message
This was a very fun project, and I hope you all enjoy it!
