Inking Royalty Blog Hop – More Magic In The Night

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s September Blog Hop! During this year’s blog hops, we are enjoying a year of celebrations – this month’s projects are all about Halloween. Prepare yourself for wonderful mix of spooky, scary and sweet. We are excited to share our creations with you today! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

On Monday I brought you a project that I created with elements from the Magic In The Night Suite – and today I’m bringing you another fun, spooky creation from this amazing suite! I can’t get enough of these products. Who would think that Halloween cards could be BEAUTIFUL and ELEGANT??

Photographing Silver Foil isn’t the easiest, but the natural light in my front yard helped!

How I Made It:

Cut & Score with your Paper Trimmer:

  • Blackberry Bliss – 8.5″ x 5.5″, scored at 4.25″ on the long side
  • 1 pattern from the Magic In This Night DSP – 1″ x 4″
  • Silver Foil – 4 3/8″ x 4″

Stamp Using Hallows Night Magic:

  • Using Memento Tuxedo Black:
    • On a scrap of Whisper White, the Spider Web and Floral Border
    • With the Open side of the border to the right, stamp the sentiment “There is Magic in this Night” on the left side
    • Stamp 2 larger spiders

Color Using Stampin’ Blends:

  • The flowers on your border in Light & Dark Blackberry Bliss
  • The leaves on your border in Light Smoky Slate

Die Cut with the Halloween Magic Dies:

  • Your stamped border/sentiment using the smaller frame die
  • The two spiders you stamped
  • The border die from a piece of Black Glimmer Paper

Emboss Using the Cobwebs 3D Embossing Folder:

  • The piece of Silver Foil Paper that you trimmed earlier

Create a Bow:

  • Create a large bow using the Metallic Mesh Ribbon
  • Use Glue Dots to hold the tails of the bow so that they go straight out with the bow instead of down from the bow like a traditionally tied bow, as pictured here:

Assemble the Card:

  • Fold your scored Blackberry Bliss card base at the 4.25” score line and burnish with your bone folder
  • Adhere your 1″ strip of DSP to the card front on the left side, leaving an 1/8″ border of Blackberry Bliss exposed at top, bottom and left side
  • Using Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere the Black Glimmer die-cut border over the strip of DSP so that one of the two zig-zags is on the Blackberry Bliss card base and the other one on the DSP
  • Adhere the Silver Foil paper that you embossed with the Cobwebs 3D Embossing Folder onto the Card Base
  • Using Black Stampin Dimensionals, adhere the floral-cobweb sentiment piece to the middle of the Silver Foil cobwebs
  • Adhere your two die cut spiders – one on the top right corner of the sentiment, like it’s crawling off of it, and the other toward the bottom left of the card front
  • Using Glue Dots, adhere your Metallic Mesh Bow over the mostly-empty right side of your sentiment panel, so the ends and the bow are running straight up and down the card
  • As a final touch, adhere 3 Iridescent Pearls – one on the back of each spider and the third one somewhere on the DSP strip
I’m not a fan of spiders, but how cool is this one with the Iridescent Pearl on its back?

  1. All of your pieces add up to a great card! The different spider webs paired with the silver mesh ribbon are gorgeous!

  2. I LOVE this card! Elegant for sure! Everything about this works so well together, from the DSP and foil to the little details like the pearl spider body. Fantastic!

    • Thank you for the compliment!! I don’t like spiders at ALL, but there is something about this card that makes them acceptable in the moment LOL!
